Last week, Malaren and I got a real treat at the Pensacola Beach: a new hatch
of minnows!
Billions of tiny baby fish swarmed in the shallow waves. They surrounded us in
a wave of new life. You can see them in the photos below, how they would
hover 1-3 feet from your body. She loved the attention!

One guy and his two daughters showed us how to catch them: reach and grab.

The gulls came in for a feast. The other splashes in the water are fish leaping out of the
water, also in a feeding frenzy. (no bigger fish showed up, which was nice)

Malaren has ditched her floatation vest and goes out into the "big" waves by herself now.

Another cool thing about that day was the beach itself:  the sand crews have been shoving
a lot of sand back on the beach and the waves pulled out a long flat section of sand,
so we could walk out about 50 yards and were still at calf level.
